Map by case type

[edit]

This map is different from the Image:H1N1 map.svg map, which is a map by case type, this is a map by number of cases. 76.66.202.139 (talk) 22:45, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Great idea

[edit]

First of all, it is a great idea. However, it would make more sense if you would compare the countries with the relative figures. Example:

  • Country A has 1,000 cases and 1,000,000 inhabitants (for example Cyprus)
  • Country B has 5,000 cases and 300,000,000 inhabitants (for example United States)

The shading for USA would be much darker in the map and this would imply that USA is 5 times more affected than Cyprus. However, if we consider the population of the countries:

  • in Cyprus, 0.1 % of the population would be affected
  • in USA, only 0.0017 % of the population would be affected

The difference is pretty large: Cyprus has 100 times more cases than USA in the population. Such a map would be far more reliable than absolute figures. Please don't argue with origin research. If all the figures in the map are sourced, it is of course no origin research. -- Grochim (talk) 05:56, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you create the new map and upload it to commons, then add them to the articles? 76.66.202.139 (talk) 09:40, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Colors on map and legend do not match. Map should be edited with matching colors. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Victor Engel (talkcontribs) 14:20, 12 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think you should create a different map for that. 76.66.202.139 (talk) 04:57, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yeah, I will. I'm only waiting a more actualized table of cases, because, excluding Mexico, United States, Canada, Spain and UK, the other infected countries will make only a color map, because its percentage are low than 1%. ⇨HotWikiBR/ 12:31, 13 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Map colors

[edit]

Australia has only 1 case, yet it's colored in dark orange. Why? I still don't even understand why Australia has it's on page for "swine flu outbreak" like the US, Canada, and Mexico? The country has just ONE (1) case! Plus Canada has reached over 500 cases, so the colors need to change. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.57.16.170 (talk) 18:28, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

5000+

[edit]

Shouldn't a new color be added to the legend for 5000+ cases? 70.29.208.129 (talk) 03:31, 24 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello, there is a discussion on extending the legend to 5000+ and 50000+ confirmed cases, please see: en:Talk:2009_swine_flu_outbreak#H1N1_map_by_confirmed_cases.svg

Death count map

[edit]

There is a new map available, Image:H1N1 map by confirmed deaths.svg map, which is a map by number of deaths.

Total cases map

Interesting... 70.29.208.129 (talk) 21:18, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure you've got the deaths colored right? It seems USA is blacker than Mexico, and Canada and Mexico have the same color... By your scale, Canada and Costa Rica should be the same color, USA and Mexico two shades darker. 70.29.208.129 (talk) 21:45, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Some updates needed

[edit]

France has reached more than 50 cases India has reached more than 5 cases And some countries like Peru and El Salvador are about to reach 50's too. Colors should be changed

See the outbreak table: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:2009_swine_flu_outbreak_table —Preceding unsigned comment added by Geografisica (talkcontribs) 02:45, 5 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect colour

[edit]

Change the colour for Malaysia, confirmed cases below 50 Arteyu ? Blame it on me ! 11:29, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Useless map

[edit]

Please, delete this map from the Swine Flu article. There is now millions of cases through the world, and most of the countries stopped to count each case ! Max of cases on the map "5000+". In France alone, there is nearly 2 millions cases ! That became ridiculous. Kormin (talk) 19:56, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
