Portion used |
The entire logo is used to convey the meaning intended and avoid tarnishing or misrepresenting the intended image. |
Low resolution? |
The logo is an SVG vector image and should not be rendered any larger than is required for the specified purposes. |
Other information |
The logo, in all versions, is owned by the Rio de Janeiro Organazing Committee for the Olympic Games. Its use is unauthorized for companies not associated with the 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympics. All symbols related to the Rio Games are protected by the Constitution of Brazil under the Ato Olímpico Federal (Articles: 6, 7 and 8). These provisions confirm the security previously offered and, besides protecting intangible property of the International Olympic Committee, protect the 2016 Summer Olympics and Paralympics and its organizers of counterfeiting and ambush marketing. This protection was compounded by the protection already granted by the Law 9.615 of 1998 and the Law 9.279 of 1996; approved and promulgated by the National Congress of Brazil. |

---|---|
Purpose of use |
The image is placed in the infobox at the top of the article discussing the Rio de Janeiro bid for the 2016 Summer Olympics, a subject of public interest. The significance of the logo is to help the reader visually identify the campaign, assure the readers that they have reached the right article containing encyclopedic commentary about the subject, and illustrate the organization's intended branding message in a way that words alone could not convey.
|
Replaceable? |
Because it is a copyrighted logo, there is no free equivalent. Any substitute that is not a derivative work would fail to convey the meaning intended, would tarnish or misrepresent its image, or would fail its purpose of identification or commentary. |
