Summary

Description
English: Configuration of GM tubes determines the types of radiation that it can detect. For example, a thin mica window on a GM Tube (shown here) will allow for the detection of alpha radiation, whereas GM Tubes without a thin mica layer are too thick for the alpha and low energy beta radiation to pass through and be detected.
